Whisper Local can process audio files, video files, microphone recordings, and transcript text created from that content. The app may also store app preferences locally on your device, such as selected language and downloaded model choices.
Your data is used only to provide the app’s core features, including on-device transcription, local formatting, copy, and sharing.
Transcription is performed locally on your device. Your audio, video, and transcript content is not sent to our servers for transcription.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not receive your recordings or transcripts on our servers.
If you choose to share or copy a transcript, that action is performed through Apple system features or the destination you select.
If you choose to download a speech model, your device connects to the third-party file host that provides the model. That provider may receive technical data such as your IP address as part of the download request.
Your recordings, transcripts, downloaded models, and app preferences remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. We do not retain this content on our servers.
Whisper Local may request microphone access so you can record audio for transcription. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Because Whisper Local does not maintain server-side user accounts or store your transcription content on our servers, you can generally manage your data by deleting recordings, transcripts, downloaded models, or uninstalling the app.
